Down To Earth sculptures carefully positioned will not only be a pleasure to enjoy for years but can also act as important focal points, exposing hidden spots or drawing the eye to give the impression of depth or width. They can also add texture, colour, height and, of course, year-round interest. Another benfit is that you can take it with you if you move. Our sculptures can add:-

  • Drama to a dull corner
  • Subtly draw attention
  • Contrast shapes and add height
  • Simply be strikingly calm

Finishes explained

Finishes on the sculptures are either a natural rust patina or powder coated.

Natural Rust Patina

  • The natural rust finish combined with the vibrant colours of the glass produce a brilliant contrast.
We go to great lengths to achieve this finish. The steel sculptures are shot blasted to remove all mill scale, which renders it down to bare metal. This is then sprayed with water periodically until a deep, even finish is attained.
On selected pieces, we then treat the sculptures with an oil-based coating, which seals the rust and produces a” suede” like look, which is suitable for both inside and outside situations.

Powder Coated

  • Other pieces are powder coated in a choice of colours giving a durable and hardwearing finish, and used principally on the sculptures that are designed with the conservatory in mind. Powder coating is a low-maintenance finish, and is a professional treatment whereby the paint is "cooked" onto the metal.

Positioning Sculptures

  • Placing sculpture is very personal and objective, however the sculptures are not heavy and they can be easily moved around the garden to find your favourite position. The sculptures look equally at home in a spare, minimalist contemporary garden or lurking among the greenery of a wild garden, they also bring an extra dimension to the garden in winter. As with a garden each sculpture has a life and meaning which will grow and give pleasure for many years.
